Meet the Adventurers

Starting as a curious parent who hadn't stepped into a school since she left, Hannah became interested in the workings of the classroom, particularly for those children who sometimes struggle with a mainstream setting. She joined the governing body of her children's primary school and started volunteering in the classroom, ultimately gaining a Level 3 Qualification in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools and becoming Chair of Governors. Coming from a farming family, Hannah grew up with an obvious connection with nature. Baldersby Park has been farmed by her family for nearly a century, and after six years working in local educational settings, she felt it was time this slice of nature should be shared. Nurture and wellbeing has always been a passion of hers, and Base Camp allows both teachers and children to make deep and lasting connections whilst engaged in affordable, authentic and experiential learning in the open air.

Catherine is Level 3 trained in Teaching and Learning Support and Child Development. She has extensive experience working in schools and childcare settings, with particular expertise in Early Years education including the Montessori method. Catherine is a marvel at many things, but particularly crafts, bringing creativity and patience to every session.

Myra is Base Camp's qualified Forest School Practitioner for Holiday Adventures. When not at Base Camp, Myra is a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant at a local special needs school. She's worked with special needs children and young people for over a decade and brings a wealth of SEND experience and expertise. Myra is passionate about everyone being able to access the benefits of outdoor learning and adventure. Her favourite Forest School activity is making musical instruments, but she can conjure up some amazing games where she has as much fun as the children do!

With nearly 30 years of experience in education (from FE to Primary), Jenny is currently a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant at a local primary school. She works with children of all ages, including those with varied needs such as SEND, and is also first aid trained. Passionate about inclusivity, outdoor learning and sports, Jenny enjoys supporting children in all activities, rain or shine. In her free time, she loves spending time outdoors with her family and dog, walking, running, and paddleboarding and in her quieter moments, meditating and reading. Her favourite outdoor activities involve crafting and making, forest bathing, getting mucky and having fun!
