Upcoming EventsWe start the day by walking through the sheep flock to Thirsk Bowmen’s archery range, which is based at Baldersby Park. These archers are passionate about shooting arrows and offer expert and fun instruction for everyone, with additional challenge for those with a little more experience. This is the real deal - no sticks with suckers on, here!
After lunch, with the chance for some free play back at base, Myra, our qualified Forest School leader will set us the challenge to make our very own bow and arrow. In prehistoric times the bow and arrow was the key to survival - being able to craft one meant the difference between going hungry and meals for the whole tribe!
Using tools, patience and determination this activity offers a chance to learn new technical skills and test our problem-solving abilities. Creating such an important tool in our history brings a great sense of achievement and is something that can be treasured for many years to come.
